Railroad Heritage Patch and Medal

The Railroad Heritage National Historic Medal Trail was produced in cooperation with Boy Scouts of America, The Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, and the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.

Units that participate in this program, you will travel and hike through out Altoona and Central Pennsylvania.  The hike includes visits to Canal Basin Park, Allegheny Portage Rail road N.H.S., Gallitzin Tunnel Park, Horseshoe Curve N.H.L., Railroaders Memorial Museum, Tyrone Historic Rail Park,  and the Walter L. Main Circus Train Wreck Site.  A patch is available for completing one of the sections and a medal is available for completing all seven sections.

 A guide book for planning  your trip is available from the Laurel Highlands Council office in Ebensburg.
