Your Laurel Highlands Council Board of Directors is committed to providing safe, sustainable, and
attractive programs at our council camping properties.
To help the Board evaluate our camping programs, we engaged the services of John L. Stewart,
Consulting Engineer – Properties/Outdoor Adventures, with the Boy Scouts of America National Council.
Many will recall that we previously engaged Mr. Stewart during 2015 to perform an engineering review
of our council camping properties. During 2016, we asked Mr. Stewart to evaluate the outdoor
programs offered at each of our camping properties.
The report prepared by Mr. Stewart and his study team will be helpful in the development of the
council’s Master Camp Plan. The Master Camp Plan will document the strategy that our council will use
to better serve our youth at our camping facilities. This committee developing the Master Camp Plan is
being chaired by Sam McClure and includes volunteers from across the council.
The report prepared by Mr. Stewart and his study team is available for review by clicking on the link
There is also a list of FAQs -- frequently asked questions- with answers that address many of the items
listed in the report.
We encourage you to visit our website and review the report. Your analysis and thoughtful suggestions
are of course, welcomed and valued.
Yours in Scouting,
H. Scott Cunningham
