Scouting’s Highest Honor for Service
Peter
Casey to be honored for lifelong commitment to Scouting
San Diego, CA – May 23, 2008 — Casey Properties President and CEO Peter
Casey, of Weston, Mass., has made
a significant impact on thousands of youth through his volunteer leadership in
the Boy Scouts of America. For his four decades of service, the BSA National
Council will honor Casey with the Silver Buffalo Award at its Annual Meeting in
San Diego on May 23.
The
Silver Buffalo Award, Scouting’s highest commendation for service to youth, has
been awarded annually since 1925 to civic-minded men and women who stand out
for their invaluable contributions and service to the youth of America.
A leader in the Boston area business
community, Casey has dedicated four decades of volunteer time to improving the
Scouting experience for countless individuals. Much of his involvement has been
at the council and regional levels, serving on the executive board and in
leadership positions of the Knox Trail Council for more than 25 years.
Additionally, Casey
was elected to the National Advisory Council in 2005 and joined the National
Properties Committee in 2006. Since 1998, he has been a member of the National
Boy Scout Committee and the National Eagle Scout Association Executive Board,
through which he led efforts to create a national directory of Eagle Scouts to
serve as a valuable tool for Eagle Scouts, Scout leaders, parents, and the
public.
A Distinguished
Eagle Scout, he is a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope awards
and a member of the Order of the Arrow.

a distinguished Scout himself, but he also has dedicated his life to ensuring
today’s youth receive that same beneficial Scouting experience,” said Bob
Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive. “The Boy Scouts of America is grateful for his
counsel and assistance throughout the past four decades.”
Casey is president
and CEO of Casey Properties Inc. He is active in
numerous trade associations, including the National Association of Realtors.
Casey and his wife, Barbara, have two sons, Peter and Andrew, both of whom were
active in Scouting.
